Key issues

Taxes - proposed Jersey Tax Cut Plan to restore the value of Salt ( State and Local Tax Deduction). It gives NJ taxpayers a tax cut allowing them to donate to new charitable funds set up by their towns. lower property taxes. 

Education - support integrating educational technology in the classroom and programs that emphasize  STEM (Science Technology Engineering, Arts and Math), a business community partner with our schools so that students get the training they need to build successful careers. incentivize college completion for both students and colleges better match college training with employer needs and address the runaway costs. 

Healthcare - end double taxation of social security benefits. introduced legislation to encourage more generics and give more competition to lower prescription drug prices. against the legalization of marijuana. wants to modify ACA ( Affordable Care Act ). 

Immigration -  supports Kate’s Law which increases penalties for those who reenter the country after being deported. believes we need tough borders. 

LGBTQ - a member of the Congressional LGBTQ Equality Caucus. introduced Freedom from Discrimination in Credit Act - a bipartisan bill to prohibit credit discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. 

Gottheimer wants “Everyone should be treated equally no matter what their background, race sexual orientation or station in life,”.
