John Lewis Good Trouble in Politics

When you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, say something. Do something about it. Get in trouble. Good trouble,” says Lewis in a new documentary out called “John Lewis: Good Trouble.”  Here are two memorable instances where John Lewis made good trouble during his time in office. 

Democratic Sit in on Gun Control on June 22nd 2016

This sit in occurred after Pulse Night Club Shooting. Democrats were urging members to vote on comprehensive gun control bills. Republicans refused to cast votes on these bills.  The day before the sit in Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut did a gun control filibuster for 14 hours and 50 minutes.

Affordable Health Care Act Sit in on Capital Steps 

Senator Cory Booker and Rep John Lewis held a improv Facebook Live sit in on the Capitol steps about Republican proposals to change Affordable Care Act. 

The Healthcare sit in started off with just Senator Booker and Representative Lewis. Crowds grew with senators coming and activists and bystanders stopping by and telling their stories all on Facebook Live.
