Life as Grocery Cashier during a pandemic
We aren’t heroes. We are just cashiers doing our jobs that we’ve been doing before this pandemic. The real heroes are the doctors and nurses working endless hours to caring for Covid-19 patients.
March: customers were panic buying toilet paper, paper towels, sugar, flour, cake mixes and many more.
Customers were running to the paper products aisles as if there was candy.
As time went on stores offered senior shopping to those that are 60+ and immunocompromised.
Some stores would close at 8pm to restock and sanitize store for the next morning.
It is state mandated for customers to wear face masks when shopping at the grocery store.
April : There was the implementation of limiting the amount of customers in stores. First Responders could cut the line if they show a valid identification.
May : There is no more limiting the amount of customers in the store.
Stores still have social distancing guidelines One-way directional arrows have been placed at the entrance to of aisles, so that the flow of shopping is one way.
Taped markings have been placed at checkout and in service departments to indicate where you should stand when waiting to checkout or place an order.
June and July: Now it is back to normal but with social distancing and wearing face masks.
