Joy Ann Reid is one of three Black Women to anchor a major american news program. The last person to host an news evening show was Gwen Ifill. 

Recently Joy Reid was named anchor of 7pm MSNBC show. The show Reid Out will succeed Hardball hosted by Chris Matthews. According to New York Times   “This change comes after Chris Matthews was forced to resign in March after a series of on-air gaffes and accusations of sexist behavior in the workplace,” . 

Kamala Harris 

Senator Kamala Harris of California is the first Black and South Asian American woman to run on a major political party ticket.

As of November 7th  Senator Kamala Harris is now Madam Vice President-Elect of the United States.
